Cleaning a Burnt Oven Rack

Stubborn, baked-on food residues on an oven rack can be challenging to remove with standard kitchen sponges and detergents, especially when the rack is too large for a typical sink. A powerful soaking method can effectively dissolve these residues, restoring the rack to a like-new condition.

Required Materials

  • Bathtub or large container (large enough to submerge the rack)
  • Hot water
  • 250 ml vinegar
  • A few spoons of citric acid
  • One dishwasher tablet
  • Kitchen sponge

Cleaning Process

  1. Prepare the Soak: Fill a bathtub or a large container with just enough hot water to submerge the oven rack.
  2. Add Cleaning Agents: To the hot water, add 250 ml of vinegar, a few spoons of citric acid, and one dishwasher tablet. The dishwasher tablet, known for its effectiveness on baked-on grime, enhances the cleaning power of the mixture.
  3. Soak the Rack: Place the burnt oven rack into the mixture, ensuring it is fully submerged.
  4. Wait: Allow the rack to soak for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, the powerful solution will work to dissolve the baked-on food residues.
  5. Remove Residues: After soaking, the residues should be significantly softened or dissolved. Lightly scrub the rack with a kitchen sponge to easily remove any remaining grime.

Additional Uses

This effective cleaning mixture can also be utilized for other kitchen items with stubborn dirt, such as baking sheets, pots, or grill grates, ensuring optimal use of the solution.
