Chili Tincture for Back and Joint Pain, and More

The Benefits of Capsaicin for Pain Relief

The capsaicin found in chili peppers can be used to create an effective tincture for various ailments, including back and joint pain. This homemade preparation can be applied topically to address issues such as lumbago, muscle soreness, strains, tension, neck pain, sciatica, and rheumatic discomfort.

Required Ingredients

  • 4-5 dried chili peppers (or an equivalent amount of chili flakes)
  • High-proof grain alcohol (such as Korn or Doppelkorn)
  • A basic, standard skin cream

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the dried chili peppers.
  2. Place the chopped chilies into a sealable glass jar.
  3. Pour enough grain alcohol over the chilies to cover them completely.
  4. Seal the jar and let the mixture steep for approximately 5 weeks. During this time, the tincture will absorb the color of the peppers.
  5. After the steeping period, filter the tincture using a coffee filter.
  6. Pour the finished tincture into a dark glass bottle for storage.

When stored in a cool, dark place, the tincture has an unlimited shelf life.

Application

To use the tincture, mix a few drops with a small amount of a basic skin cream using a spatula. Apply this mixture to the affected areas.

Important Safety Precautions

Please adhere strictly to the following warnings:

  • Never apply the cream without wearing gloves.
  • Always wash your hands thoroughly after application.
  • This tincture and cream mixture is not suitable for children.
  • Before use, perform a patch test to check for any allergic reaction to capsaicin.
