Crafting Cut-Out Stars: DIY Tutorial

This guide provides instructions for creating decorative cut-out stars, suitable for holiday decorations. The process involves folding paper and making decorative cuts.
Materials Needed:
- 2 square pieces of paper of the same size
- 1 pen for marking the cut-out pattern
- 1 pair of scissors
- 1 piece of ribbon
- 1-2 felt pom-poms (alternatives include buttons, beads, or cotton balls)
- 1 glue stick
How to Craft Paper Stars:
Take two equally sized square pieces of paper and fold each in half.
Fold each piece in half again.
Fold each piece in half a third time. This creates a concertina-like fold. Correct any uneven folds by refolding. Using a fingernail to create sharp creases is recommended. This method eliminates the need for precise measurements of the fold width.
Fold the concertina-folded paper in half, like a fan.
Draw a cut-out pattern on both pieces of paper. Aim for an identical pattern on both sides. Cut out the drawn pattern.
Make a cut into the folded edge of each paper piece, extending halfway into the paper. On one piece, cut from right to left; on the second piece, cut from left to right.
Interlock the two paper pieces by fitting them together at the cuts.
Glue the four open sides together using a glue stick. During this process, insert a ribbon for hanging on the fourth side. Unfold the star as you glue it.
Optionally, decorate the center of the star with a felt pom-pom. This can be done on one side or both. Other decorative elements like beads, cotton balls, buttons, or small figures can also be used.
