Crafting Mini Beanies for Christmas Tree Decoration

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating small, festive beanies from paper and yarn to adorn a Christmas tree. These simple crafts are suitable for adding charm to larger trees or for a touch of handmade holiday cheer.

Materials Needed:

  • Magazine paper
  • Sock yarn
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Comb

How to Make the Mini Beanies:

  1. Prepare the Paper Ring: Cut approximately 4 cm wide strips from old magazines. Fold each strip lengthwise twice to create a strip about 1.5 cm wide. Cut an 11-12 cm piece from this folded strip and form it into a ring by slightly overlapping and gluing the ends.

  2. Prepare the Yarn: Cut threads from sock yarn to approximately 26-28 cm in length. It’s advisable to cut a few extra threads at once.

  3. Attach the Yarn to the Ring: Take one thread and fold it in half to create a loop. From the inside of the paper ring, pull this loop upwards over the rim. Then, pull the two loose ends of the thread from the outside through the loop and tighten them at the top edge of the ring.

  4. Cover the Ring: Continue this process until the entire paper ring is covered with yarn. Use a finger or the end of a wooden spoon to push all the yarn threads through the ring to the other side.

  5. Form the Pom-Pom: Gently comb the yarn threads with a coarse comb to arrange them. Tie the threads together tightly with another piece of yarn at a height of about 3-4 cm. Trim the remaining excess thread ends with scissors to create a pom-pom.

  6. Add a Hanging Loop: Finally, attach a loop of ribbon or yarn to the top of the beanie for hanging. The ornament is now complete.
