Crafting Mini Pots & Cans for Dollhouses

Crafting Mini Pots and Cans for Your Dollhouse

This guide provides instructions for creating miniature pots and cans for a dollhouse using everyday materials. These crafts are suitable for keeping children engaged, especially during times when outdoor activities are limited.

Materials Needed:

  • Buttons
  • Pushpins (thumbtacks)
  • Bottle caps
  • Thicker paper from old magazines or cardboard from toilet paper/kitchen rolls
  • Glue

Crafting Mini Pots:

To create the small pots, use thin cardboard. Roll it around a thick felt-tip pen or glue stick, then glue the seam. For the pot’s base, place the glued cylinder onto a piece of cardboard, trace its outline, cut it out, and attach it firmly.

Bottle caps from water bottles are also excellent bases. Simply wrap them with colored paper to create a pot with an integrated base.

Buttons can serve as lids for the pots. Jacket and coat buttons with a raised center are particularly effective, as the raised part can act as a handle. For buttons with two holes, fold a small piece of paper thinly and thread it through the holes to form a handle.

Handles for the pots can be made from paper folded twice. Bend the ends slightly and glue them onto the mini pot.

Crafting Mini Cans:

Small cans can be made from rolled magazine paper. Use a toothpick to help roll the paper tightly. The head of a pushpin can be used as a lid, secured with glue or hot glue. For a more stable lid, separate the pushpin head from its shaft and glue only the head onto the can.

The lid can be further decorated by painting it with a water-insoluble pen.

Note: Not suitable for children under 3 years old due to small parts that can be a choking hazard.
