DIY Cardboard Doll Bed

This guide explains how to construct a doll bed from cardboard that requires no glue and can be easily disassembled for storage. The bed is designed to slot together, making it stable without adhesive.
Materials Needed:
- Cardboard box (e.g., from copier paper)
- Craft knife
- Cutting mat
- Pencil
Construction Steps:
Prepare the Cardboard: Begin with a cardboard box, such as one used for copier paper. Remove all the separate flaps from the box.
Cut the Base: The base of the doll bed will be made from the bottom of the cardboard box. A suitable size for the bed base is approximately 30 x 21.3 cm.
Cut the Components: From the side flaps of the cardboard box, cut the following pieces:
- Two larger feet: 9.5 x 13.5 cm
- Two smaller feet: 9.5 x 9 cm
- Headboard: 21.3 x 9 cm
- Footboard: 21.3 x 7 cm
Optional: Round off the top corners of the headboard and footboard if they are not already rounded.
Create Slots: Cut 1 mm wide slots of varying lengths into the prepared bed components. Specific slot measurements are crucial for assembly:
- Bed Base: Cut 5 cm long, 1 mm wide slots 2 cm from the edge on the right side. On the left side, cut slots that are 3 cm long.
- Feet, Headboard, and Footboard: Cut slots into the edges of the feet, headboard, and footboard that correspond to the dimensions of the slots on the bed base. This ensures a secure fit.
Assemble the Bed:
- Insert the two larger feet into the longer slots on the bed base.
- Insert the two smaller feet into the shorter slots on the bed base.
- Attach the headboard by sliding it onto the longer feet.
- Attach the footboard by sliding it onto the shorter feet.
Once assembled, the doll bed is complete. It can be further personalized by painting it.
