Removing a Bicycle Tire Without Special Tools

This guide explains how to remove a bicycle tire from the rim without using specialized tire levers. The method utilizes common household items: teaspoons.
Necessary Items:
- Two to three teaspoons. It is recommended to have at least one with a thinner handle and one with a thicker handle for better grip and leverage.
Procedure:
Position the Bicycle: Turn the bicycle upside down or hang it in a way that provides comfortable access to the wheel.
Initial Levering: Take the teaspoon with the thinner handle. Start at the valve and carefully slide the spoon’s edge under the edge of the bicycle tire, lifting it over the rim. Once a portion of the tire is over the rim, hook the teaspoon behind a spoke to hold it in place.
Second Levering: Use the second teaspoon, preferably the one with the thicker handle. Slide it under the tire edge approximately 5-7 cm away from the first spoon. Lift this section of the tire over the rim and hook the spoon behind a spoke as well.
Continuing the Process:
- If you have a third teaspoon, repeat the process 5-7 cm further along the rim.
- If you only have two spoons, you can remove the first spoon and reposition it 5-7 cm further along the tire edge. Lift the tire over the rim and secure the spoon behind a spoke.
Completing Removal: Continue this process, working around the rim. If the tire remains stubborn, insert a teaspoon under the tire edge and lever it over the rim until the entire tire can be pulled off the rim by hand.
